Art I
The goal of Art I is to introduce high school students to the Visual Fine Arts.
What is art? Art impacts our daily lives in many ways. Each morning we consider what art we will wear. For breakfast we decide what art we will eat. We ride to school in a work of art. We learn in a work of art. We live in a world filled with art! With almost every human decision we ask ourselves, "What do I want this to look like?" We are completely surrounded by the aesthetics decisions we and others have made. What is a Visual Fine Art? So, what makes something a Fine Art? The Fine Arts might be summed up best by the famous Pop artist, Andy Warhol, of the 60's. He said, "Art is something we don't need." The Fine Arts are not crucial to our mere existence. They are a byproduct of our search for significance and communicate in a visual way the very soul of humanity. What do We do in this Class? We will explore the history and evolution of art through time. Along the way we will learn many traditional and current methods of artistic expression. Simply put, we will learn about and then make "stuff" in old and new ways. Mr. Siebe's goal for Art I students. I want every student to value and appreciate the contribution that artists provide to our society. I want my students to speak intelligently about the arts.
